The Yongsan Station Youth Lunchbox Project is a meaningful initiative organized by Korail, aimed at establishing lunchbox stores within train stations to revitalize the local economy and create employment opportunities for young people.

This design began with a focus on a core challenge faced by youth: the realistic burden of costs. By introducing a modular system based on the smallest unit, the project enhances scalability and ease of assembly. Additionally, by adopting a factory-built, integrated production method instead of on-site assembly, construction quality is reliably secured, and the construction period is shortened.

Through this approach, unnecessary processes and costs are minimized, achieving a rational construction cost.

Moreover, the design considers future disassembly and recyclability. Buildings made of composite materials are typically difficult to recycle and often end up in landfills when dismantled. In contrast, this design adopts an assembly method that allows for easy disassembly and constructs the main structures and materials from metal, ensuring both functionality and durability while increasing the potential for material recycling—a sustainable strategy.

Through this approach, the project successfully realizes a design that simultaneously addresses youth support, cost efficiency, construction efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
